Having USB flash
drives or pen drives is very common, these days the
capacity to store good amount of data in a secure manner
has made these drives popular among consumers, these
days. However, it is also true that a flash drive cannot
be safe and secure
forever.
Jerks and other types
of damages cannot bring any significant hazard to flash
memory. However, it is also true that these USB pen
drives can also get
corrupt.There are many people
who tend to suffer from various corrupt pen drives even
after purchase them from a reputed
brand. Here are some tips to fix & format your USB
flash
drives:
Tip one: Precaution
first
You need to carry
out an important precaution prior to getting started. You
must not remove the pen drive while the data is being
transferred. Make doubly sure that you always remove the
pen drive after stopping it. Now, go to ‘safely remove
hardware’ & then the USB derive as soon as it says
that it. Thereafter remove
it.
Tip two: Always
check:
Make sure that you check via opening all your
important files prior to an important presentation, it
won’t work there
also.
Tip three:
Transfer
In case, your file does not work, try
transferring another copy of the file with a different
name. This trick works
sometimes.
Tip four: Transfer 2
copies
When you delete the file & then transfer
the same file again giving same size & name, it may
get written to the same area & may not work at all.
However, a different name & size will get written to
a different area & will definitely work. Hence, it is
recommended to transfer 2 copies of your
file.
Tip five: Drivers
CD
In case, you want the presentation to function
well on older PCS such as windows 98, you need to take
along driers CD to let the computer identify your plug
& then play USB drive. You need to keep this CD
handy. It is also recommended to keep a copy of windows
98 driver.
Tip six: check &
scan
In case, you see your flash drive data getting
corrupted, just go to my computer & then right click
the removable drive. Now, go to properties> tools and
run errors checking & scan for error. Any files that
are already corrupt may not work. However, the latest
transferred files will definitely
work.
Tip seven:
Format
In case, everything
fails, the last option is to format your drive. Here, you
need to right click removable drive & then select
& format the drive. Now, it is time to scan & fix
all types of errors. This will fix up all the bad sectors
& your drive will function as
new.
